The Reno Collective: How technology inspires the creative journey

Artists enjoy limitless creative freedom with the new OPPO Reno series

Creativity knows no bounds. Once unleashed, it becomes a potent force that can inspire others and make life better.

To celebrate creative freedom, OPPO has released a series of videos featuring The Reno Collective, local icons who are stretching the limits of their imagination and defying the limits of creativity by using technology. The videos are headlined by the OPPO Reno brand ambassadors: contemporary artist Dex Fernandez, film director Treb Monteras II, musicians IV of Spades, and fashion-forward siblings Daryl and AndrĂ© Chang. Together, they embody what the Reno series stands for: creative freedom and artistic expression, effortlessly unleashed with OPPO’s flagship smartphone series, the Reno and the Reno 10x Zoom.

The videos trace the creative journey of the artists – how they cultivated their artistry, how they eventually learned to unleash it with the help of technology, and how it has made a positive difference in their craft.

Episode 1: Music

In the first episode, local band IV of Spades share how they started out and took off, and how they use their music as a playground for exploration. “One of the most exciting times for us as a band was when we talked and we agreed that we will take this seriously, that this is no longer a hobby,” recalls Zild.  Even after they committed to taking their craft seriously, creating music was not an easy process. “Sometimes inspiration will find you, but most of the time you have to find inspiration. Sometimes you really need to force yourself to find out who you really are,” says Blaster. For them, “Creativity is freedom… when you have no limits, or when you know what your limits are.” Badjao adds that “Our music is a never-ending exploration, a journey. As a band, that’s us. Our music will always grow.”

Episode 2: Visual Arts

For visual artists Dex Fernandez and Treb Monteras, art should be relatable, meaningful, and relevant for the masses. “Art is a universal language. But there are things that are hard to verbalize… and this is when art comes in,” says Treb in the video. Often, making art accessible and relatable to people requires the use of technology. “Technology is moving really fast and the only way to survive is to use it.”  Dex, who developed a character called Garapata, says it is important for art to have meaning. “Whatever I create, I’ll always give it meaning. Let’s create art that affects people, that contributes to change… art that is communicative.”
Episode 3: Fashion

In Daryl and Andre Chang’s cut, the siblings explain why “creativity is about remaking the ordinary to extraordinary”. “When you like to create, you always get inspired no matter what. When I get to share it with others, I’m also able to inspire people. It’s a beautiful cycle,” says Andre. He adds that he hopes to foster the growth of the fashion industry through their art. “I’m inspired by the unexpected. The future is an open possibility,” says Daryl.
#FurtherYourVision with the OPPO Reno

For the artists that make up The Reno Collective, the OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom are the  ultimate creative tools that help them 'further their vision' and maximize their creative freedom.

The OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom are equipped with features that enable creativity and artistic expression. The Reno comes with a 48MP plus an additional 5MP PDAF camera; while the Reno 10x Zoom takes it a step further with OPPO’s first full-focal-length triple camera system featuring 48MP(IMX586), 8MP(wide angle), and 13MP(telephoto). Further stretching the limits of creativity, the Reno 10x Zoom comes with the game-changing 10x hybrid zoom and 60x digital zoom – the first of its kind in the smartphone industry, enabling users to break the limits of their creativity.

For those who seek to create music, the phones come equipped with Dolby Atmos speakers. The Reno 10x Zoom is even accompanied with Audio 3D and Audio Zoom to capture rich and true-to-life audio output.

Creating videos has never been more exciting with  OPPO’s iconic Ultra Night Mode 2.0, Color Mapping, and 4K video – allowing artists to capture everything they want, regardless of light and environmental conditions. With larger AMOLED screens that completely do away with the notch, this series allows for a full panoramic and immersive view that makes the most of their screens – 6.6-inches and 6.4-inches on the Reno 10x Zoom and the Reno respectively. This notchless design innovation is made possible by the exquisite new pivot rising camera.

To ensure that your creative thinking is never interrupted, the Reno 10x Zoom delivers peak performance through its Snapdragon 855 chipset, while the Reno runs on the Snapdragon 710. Both units carry 256GB ROM and feature VOOC 3.0 fast charging which allows low-voltage fast charging while gaming or streaming video, without emitting excess heat or limiting performance.

Indeed, OPPO’s Reno series is a breakthrough in smartphone technology, opening a world of  possibilities by serving as the ultimate creative tool for all artists, whether amateur or professional.
