TECNO joins forces with RSG to bring esports excellence and community support for Philippines and Malaysia

The year-long partnership will see TECNO return as an official sponsor for RSG Philippines, and expansion into RSG Malaysia

Engagement efforts across both countries will also include esports community outreach initiatives

Global innovative smartphone brand TECNO and Southeast Asian premier esports organization RSG announced plans for a year-long partnership to support competitive gaming and the esports communities in the Philippines and Malaysia. The partnership, which will begin in April 2024, builds upon a previous successful collaboration in 2023.

As part of this year’s initiative, TECNO will continue to support RSG Philippines and kick-start support for RSG Malaysia in their esports tournaments. The two brands will also jointly curate community-based local esports outreach programs in Philippines and Malaysia. RSG players will also serve as TECNO’s official gaming ambassadors. The partnership aims to elevate the standards of competitive esports, increase engagement between esports players, content creators and the public, and inspire esports communities in Philippines and Malaysia.

“The partnership with RSG Philippines has been fruitful to support esports talent and inspire the communities. TECNO’s quest for innovation and giving the best gaming experience through our smartphones matches well with these best-in-class esports teams. We are delighted to join hands with RSG again to engage and excite gamers in the Philippines and now in Malaysia,” said Nana Chen, TECNO regional marketing director.

“We are excited that TECNO has decided to strengthen our partnership this year. Both brands are well-aligned in our values to set new standards in both technological innovation and competitive performance. This year, as we extend to both Philippines and Malaysia, we hope to do more to grow together and cement our position as a leading platform of opportunities for aspirants,” said Jayf Soh, CEO and Founder of RSG.

Pulse Nova Entertainment, a full-service gaming entertainment marketing agency and the exclusive rights-holders of RSG’s players, partnerships and sponsorships, worked closely with the two brands to develop the partnership. "We're thrilled to unite industry giants, TECNO and RSG, in elevating esports. With TECNO's support, we aim to break new frontiers through the introduction of meaningful partnerships to mobilize gamers worldwide,” said Cindy Lim, Head of Sales, Pulse Nova Entertainment.

RSG Teams to Showcase Gaming Excellence and Innovation

RSG Philippines and RSG Malaysia players will don TECNO’s logo on their jerseys as they prepare for the upcoming MPL PH and MPL MY Season 13 tournaments. TECNO will support the teams’ efforts in gearing up to set new standards in the esports arenas. Fans can also look forward to enjoying the finesse of the players as TECNO and RSG develop memorable content and gaming activities, starting with the community livestream, Raider’s Rumble 2.0, in late March. The roster of professional players in RSG Philippines and RSG Malaysia will also be the official gaming ambassadors for TECNO in 2024, starting with the launch of TECNO POVA 6 PRO in Philippines in March and TECNO POVA 6 PRO 5G in Malaysia in April 2024.

RSG Philippines is a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) competitive esports team, emerging victorious recently as the champion of ONE Esports MPL Invitational (MPLI) 2023. The local team also won the Mobile Legends SEA Cup 2022 as well as the MPL PH Season 9 (in 2022).

MLBB esports powerhouse RSG Malaysia has won the Kohai SEA Championship Season 2 in 2023, as well as the MPL Malaysia Season 7.

On the community front, TECNO and RSG aim to develop local outreach programmes such as community livestreams and on-ground activities in the Philippines and Malaysia. Stay tuned to RSG’s social media pages on Facebook (RSG PH, RSG MY), Instagram (RSG PH, RSG MY) and Tiktok (RSG PH, RSG MY).
