Windows 10 is Here! To Upgrade or Not Upgrade?

Windows 10 is here and it is free!

Many has been anticipating the official rollout of Windows 10 to existing windows 7 and 8 users for free, and what makes it more exciting is the features that it brings to users. They said it is the "Best Windows Ever" and has mixed receptions for new and exiting Microsoft users. But is there a need to upgrade to the new windows 10?

Let us look at some of the features and decipher them according to their use:

* Cortana, the personal digital assistant, makes it easy to find the right information at the right time.

like Siri for iOS, and Google Voice for android, Cortana is the virtual voice assistant for windows, which is inclined to Bing as its search provider, it is quicker but not as many results compared to google. Well we usually use these voice assistance for fun, right?

* New Microsoft Edge browser lets people quickly browse, read, and mark up and share the Web.

Considered as the new baby browser, Edge promises a quicker and easy browsing. Comparing it to Chrome who leads the way as the most used browser versus the industry-used Internet Explorer. So far, there has been good experiences, but will give it more time.

* Continuum optimizes apps and experiences beautifully across touch and desktop modes.

With a more optimized interface and application structure, it runs better yet smooth. Many can now appreciate touch commands since it becomes like andriod/iOS interfaces which the people are now used to.

* Built-in apps including Photos; Maps; Microsoft’s new music app, Groove; and Movies & TV offer entertainment and productivity options. With OneDrive, files can be easily shared and kept up-to-date across all devices.

OneDrive is already great for organizing and storing files. However files are also getting bigger and bigger every year wherein the need for storage space is not proportional to the allocated space.

* The all new Office Mobile apps for Windows 10 tablets are available today in the Windows Store3. Built for work on-the-go, the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps offer a consistent, touch-first experience for small tablets. And for all your digital note taking needs, the full featured OneNote app comes pre-installed with Windows 10. The upcoming release of the Office desktop apps (Office 2016)

Like android and iOS app, the use of Office for the computer is the most important use of devices running windows OS, it looks like it is free and would require purchase for additional functions which is justifiable. Though the use of OneNote has not as popular compared to the usual programs, we welcome the program just as long it does not eat a lot of RAM.

So, looking at these factors I would like to give Windows 10 a shot. It is not perfect, but they did hear the woes of the previous versions and indeed made it available and best of all free! So if you might be interested in upgrading to the new Windows 10, you can follow these simple steps and checklist.
