Sad Day, Pi Day - Hawking and the Universe

This post was meant to be a happy article about the joys of Pi day and how it has changed history. Today is also known as Albert Einstein's birthday who is the most notable modern scientist of the 20th century. Unfortunately it was also today that renowned physicist Stephen Hawking died peacefully in his home in Cambrige, England.

Although the details of the cause of death was not yet revealed to the public, his death shocked the world particularly those familiar with his works in the field of theoretical physics, cosmology and related disciplines. Also known for his unique disability called  Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, he lost a lot of his motor skills and eventually bound to his wheelchair with speech generating device which made him unforgettable.

He also became a pop icon when he usually appears in many shows and movies which inspired people to look into this study and eventually become scientists themselves. His life was also featured in an Oscar-nominated film The Theory of Everything which actor Eddie Redmayne won as best actor.

So what is next as Dr. Hawking has now passed? His contributions to science led to many discoveries and on-going experiments which tests various theories about the universe and beyond. Most of us would not fully understand his works due to the complications of its components and formulas. However for most of us who are not into science, his works made milestones and lightyears that propelled human science knowledge into new heights.

As Stephen Hawking went beyond his expected lifespan below 25, he was able to reach a incredible age many would never reach despite not having disabilities.  He was able to experience almost zero gravity, he went to so many countries for his "speeches". Beyond his expertise in science and theories, we went beyond his limitations and proved his worth in the universe.

For now Dr. Hawking ... have a Pi,  and like its numerical infinity, your works live on for us to strive to bigger goals.
