Digital enablement push: Globe boosts 5G network coverage with 716 new sites

Globe has made significant strides in expanding its 5G network, connecting 716 new sites in the first nine months of the year. This propelled its 5G outdoor coverage to 97.67% in the National Capital Region and 92.06% in key cities of Visayas and Mindanao.

The network’s rapid growth is underscored by the 5.2 million 5G devices that connected to Globe for the month of September 2023, signifying growing adoption among Filipinos.

Internationally, Globe’s 5G influence continues to grow with the expansion of partnerships to 156 carriers in 82 destinations, allowing customers to experience high-speed 5G services globally and positioning the Philippines as a notable participant in the 5G arena.

Globe’s 5G roaming coverage already extends to countries such as Guatemala, South Africa, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Laos, Seychelles, India, Peru, Aland Islands, Crete, Croatia, and Romania. At the same time, inbound roamers visiting the Philippines can also benefit from the company’s strengthened 5G infrastructure.

“With the robust expansion of our 5G network, we are not just enhancing connectivity; we are shaping a future where every Filipino is empowered with global, cutting-edge communication capabilities," said Beck Eclipse, Globe’s Chief Customer Experience Officer.

Globe’s capital expenditure (CAPEX) spending stands at PHP54 billion for the first nine months of the year, 91% of which was directed towards improving data services. This is in line with the company’s push for greater digital enablement among Filipinos, as connectivity has now become a lifeline, crucial for day-to-day needs in financial services, business, education and healthcare, among others.

This shows the company’s resolve to equip customers with top-tier digital solutions and dependable connectivity that meets the dynamic needs of today’s digital society.

Globe’s unwavering commitment to network expansion and enhancement resonates with its dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The company’s efforts contribute particularly to SDG No. 9, which promotes innovation and infrastructure as essential drivers of economic growth and development.

Through its 5G network, Globe is setting the stage for a new era of digital empowerment with faster data transfer rates, wider coverage, and more stable connections. This also showcases its commitment to building a globally connected community that is future-ready.
