Globe, DICT forge stronger collaboration to combat fraud and scams

Globe and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a stronger, more integrated framework to curb fraud, scams, and other ICT-enabled crimes.

The partnership formalizes a Collaborative Framework for Fraud Prevention and Investigation, ensuring closer cooperation between Globe and DICT, along with its attached agencies, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the National Privacy Commission (NPC), and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC). This initiative supports government and industry-wide efforts to safeguard Filipinos from identity theft, phishing, SMS scams, and other fraudulent activities that have proliferated in the digital space.

Globe backs DICT’s Digital Bayanihan in Tawi-Tawi with continued investments in connectivity and inclusion

Globe reaffirmed its role as a committed government partner in promoting digital inclusion and sustainable connectivity during the Digital Bayanihan Tawi-Tawi leg, led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Digital Bayanihan highlighted a shared goal between the public and private sectors to expand digital access in far-flung areas, where connectivity serves as a gateway to education, livelihood, and vital public services.

Globe’s participation demonstrated its support for the national digitalization agenda through sustained investments in infrastructure and digital tools that close connectivity gaps and enhance daily life in underserved communities.

“Globe is proud to stand beside the national government in realizing the dream of a digitally empowered Philippines.  Our work in Mindanao, especially in areas like Tawi-Tawi, reflects our belief that no one should be left behind in the digital age,” said Robert Aquino, Assistant Vice President for Government Relations at Globe, during the event.

DICT kicks off eLGU and eGovPH app information campaign in Region 7

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 7 is hosting the kick-off ceremony for the implementation of Electronic Local Government Unit System (eLGU) alongside the eGovPH App information campaign on October 21, 2024, at the JPark Island Resort and Waterpark in Mactan Cebu, aims to enhance digital governance among local government units across Central Visayas.

The eLGU system is one of the nationwide E-Government initiatives designed to streamline government service delivery through digital transformation. It provides digital platforms for essential services such as business registration, tax payments, and access to public documents, fostering transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in government processes and transactions.

DICT, DTI join hands to support Philippine Blockchain Week 2023

Philippines’ flagship blockchain event returns in Manila, September 19 to 21, 2023

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have announced their support for Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2023. The much-anticipated follow up event will take place from September 19 to 21, 2023, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts, Manila, Philippines.

DICT Director Emmy Lou Delfin and DTI Director Jo-Dann Darong spoke at the conference and discussed how the Philippine Blockchain Week will help the government fulfill its commitment to boost collaboration, innovation, and digitization in the country.
