Netflix Is (Almost) Everywhere, Also Here In The Philippines!

It has been announced and rolled out today that Netflix, America's largest video streaming service is now available in more than 130 countries as announced at CES 2016. The availability of Netflix has been long awaited and new video streaming companies like iFlix and HOOQ came into play.

“Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network,” said Co-founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings at CES 2016. “With this launch, consumers around the world -- from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo -- will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously -- no more waiting. With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”

For 370 Pesos in the Philippines, members around the world will be able to enjoy Netflix original series including Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Narcos, Sense8, Grace and Frankie, and Marco Polo, as well as a catalog of licensed TV shows and movies. In 2016, the company plans to release 31 new and returning original series, two dozen original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials and 30 original kids series -- available at the same time to members everywhere.

Oops, sorry no "Netflix and Chill" Kim Jong Un.
With the expanded market, except China, North Korea, Crimea, Syria , competition for video streaming service will grow intense and competitive. However, comparing it to the existing companies, iFlix monthly rate is at 129 Pesos while HOOQ is 149 Pesos. Netflix advantage is their exclusive series that they produce, while the other two advantages with having local content like TV series and movies.

We might see changes with the rollout since it came as a surprise for everybody in the world. Thus, more people can definitely say the popular statement "Wanna' Netflix and Chill?"
