SM Supermalls’ sustainability journey

The mall operator continues to pioneer eco-friendly programs

SM Supermalls’ quest to create a more sustainable, greener planet began in the 1990s with the installation of a wastewater treatment plant at SM Southmall. The pioneering initiative, which recycles wastewater for irrigation and sanitary systems, laid the foundation for the company’s long-standing drive toward environmental stewardship and resource conservation.

Solar Panel Project Helps Both Customers and Communities Nationwide

Amid the current energy state of emergency and as demand for electricity rises during the summer months, SM Supermalls reinforces its energy efficiency practices to serve its customers and surrounding communities undisrupted, on top of sustaining its operations.

SM Group operates the country’s largest rooftop solar panel network nationwide among property developers. Its investment in renewable energy started in 2014 with the very first installation of solar panels in SM North EDSA—long before government mandates on sustainability and the current pressures on alternative sources of power amid the energy crisis. With over 200,000 panels installed across 59 mall properties, covering 65 hectares, this expansive system powers SM’s most-loved malls through a hybrid energy strategy, helping them run more efficiently and sustainably.

Water Resilience at Scale: SM’s Conservation Efforts in a Changing Climate

No-touch but big impact. With the looming potential of a super El Niño in the coming months, helping preserve the precious resource of water becomes a greater priority for SM. Through widely implemented innovations under the SM Green Movement, SM helps conserve the equivalent of 1.5 liters of water per customer over 7 seconds of use per day.

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) has advanced resource stewardship through water circularity initiatives, implementing water conservation measures across its nationwide network of SM Supermalls since the late 1990s.

Embedded in its operations, SM Malls uses innovative water management systems that save water and reduce wastage - drawing less from the national water grid and creating value in an increasingly volatile time.

The OPPO Find X9 Ultra Changes the Way We Capture the World

The best shots aren't always within reach. From performers illuminated by stage lights to distant landmarks and sweeping landscapes, some of the most memorable moments happen far beyond the lens of an ordinary smartphone camera. Capturing them with true detail and clarity has long been one of mobile photography's biggest challenges.

The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is built to change that. Powered by OPPO's most advanced zoom system yet and a next-generation imaging platform co-developed with Hasselblad, the flagship combines precision telephoto optics with intelligent computational photography to deliver extraordinary reach without compromising image quality. The result is stunning detail, natural colors, and remarkable clarity even when your subject is far away.

Get Closer with Advanced Optical Zoom

The camera of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is designed to give users more creative freedom across different focal lengths. Its 3x and 10x optical zoom capabilities allow users to move closer to the action without physically stepping forward, making it ideal for concerts, sports events, travel photography, wildlife, architecture, and everyday storytelling.

PLDT Home Fiber ‘Always On’ Keeps Filipino Households Connected Even During Unexpected Outages

Today's connected households rely on the internet to keep life moving -- whether it's a virtual meeting, an online class, a movie marathon, or a competitive gaming session. As digital activities become deeply woven into everyday routines, reliability has become more important than internet speeds.

Addressing this need, PLDT Home has introduced Fiber Always On, a breakthrough broadband innovation designed to keep households connected even during unexpected fiber outages.

PLDT Home is the first and only internet service provider in the Philippines to offer a hybrid modem that seamlessly combines fiber and LTE connectivity in a single device. The innovative solution automatically switches to its built-in LTE backup whenever fiber service becomes unavailable, helping minimize disruptions without requiring customers to manually activate a mobile hotspot, maintain a secondary connection, or subscribe to a separate backup service.

Globe Business champions cybersecurity for SMEs with integrated GFiber Broadband - Free Vulnerability Assessment solution

As more businesses embrace digital operations and AI-driven tools, cybersecurity is becoming just as important as connectivity itself. For many small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the challenge is finding a way to grow securely in an environment where they face silent, invisible digital threats.

This protection is vital because SMEs are the backbone of local communities, generating millions of jobs and driving national economic growth. Yet, as these businesses shift online, cyberattacks targeting them have surged by up to 325% because automated bots continuously scan the internet for unlocked digital doors, regardless of a company's name or size.

In the latest installment of The Blueprint by Globe, Globe Business highlights that GFiber Broadband plans now include Free Vulnerability Assessment Scan (VA) to help businesses build a more secure digital foundation. By combining high-speed connectivity with proactive cybersecurity directly into everyday internet connectivity, Globe Business is changing the paradigm. Cybersecurity should not be viewed as an expensive cost center, but should instead be embedded directly into an organization’s everyday business operations. This democratizes protection regardless of business size and digital maturity.

LG Philippines Expands National Museum Partnership with 41 PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers for Galleries Nationwide

In time for International Museum Day and National Heritage Month, LG Electronics Philippines expanded its partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) through the donation of 41 LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, strengthening its support for the preservation of cultural, historical, and natural heritage across the country.

The turnover ceremony was held on May 18 at the National Museum of Natural History, a fitting venue for the expanded donation. The museum features permanent galleries that showcase the Philippines’ rich biological and geological diversity, with its iconic “Tree of Life” symbolically linking the country’s ecosystems from mountains to marine reefs.

This year’s donation builds on LG’s previous partnership with the National Museum. In 2025, LG donated 21 dehumidifier units to help maintain ideal indoor conditions and protect priceless artworks at the National Museum of Fine Arts. With the new batch of 41 LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, the partnership now expands beyond one site to support collections in the National Museum of Anthropology, the National Museum of Natural History, and regional component museums.

Expanding climate care support for museum collections

The 2026 allocation includes 6 units for the National Museum of Anthropology and 15 units for the National Museum of Natural History, with the remaining units distributed to regional museums across the country. These include NMP sites and galleries in Kiangan, Baler, Kabayan, Ilocos, Bicol, Tabon, Bohol, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, San Jose de Buenavista, Davao, and Zamboanga.

For museums, climate care plays an important role in protecting collections. Humidity can affect artworks, textiles, artifacts, natural specimens, and other materials over time. By helping manage moisture inside museum spaces, dehumidifiers support the National Museum’s continuing work to preserve collections for future generations.

Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director, LG Electronics Philippines, said, “At LG, we believe our role as a company goes beyond delivering technology. It also means finding meaningful ways to support the communities we serve. Through this continued partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines, we are honored to contribute to the preservation of the country’s cultural and natural heritage. This donation reflects our commitment to corporate citizenship and to using LG’s resources and innovation to help protect important collections for future generations.”

Jave Enriquez, Product Marketing Manager for ES-RAC, LG Electronics Philippines, added, “This donation marks the expansion of LG’s long-term partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines. Through this new batch of LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, we are glad to support not only the National Museum of Natural History, but also galleries and museums in other parts of the country.”

Supporting heritage preservation beyond Metro Manila

The expanded donation also reflects the broader role of museums in connecting communities to culture, history, science, and identity. This is especially timely as International Museum Day 2026 carries the global theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” highlighting the role of museums as bridges for dialogue, understanding, inclusion, and peace. In the Philippines, the turnover also falls within National Heritage Month, which is observed every May to promote consciousness, respect, and love for the legacies of Filipino cultural history.

By extending support to regional component museums, LG Philippines helps bring climate care technology closer to collections that tell stories from different parts of the country. From anthropology and natural history galleries in Manila to regional museum spaces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the donation supports the National Museum’s work of caring for materials that reflect the richness and diversity of Filipino heritage.

Jeremy Barns, Director-General of the National Museum of the Philippines, said, "Temperature and relative humidity are one of the challenges museums face, especially in a tropical environment. Moisture in the air can contribute to mold, dampness, and deterioration, which is why dehumidifiers play an important role in helping us care for collections. These units allow us to better manage gallery conditions and support our ongoing work to preserve the country’s cultural and natural heritage.”

Barns also noted the continuing value of the partnership between LG and the National Museum, which has grown over the years through previous donations of display technologies and dehumidifiers for museum use.

“Our partnership with LG has grown over the years, beginning with donations of OLED TVs for our galleries and continuing now with dehumidifiers that directly support the preservation of our collections,” Barns added. “What we value is the sincerity and professionalism behind the partnership. LG continues to ask how it can help, and for an institution like ours, that kind of support is meaningful.”

Technology in service of culture

For LG Philippines, the donation reflects how home and climate care technology can serve a broader public purpose. The same innovations designed to help create more comfortable indoor environments can also support institutions that protect shared heritage, from paintings and textiles to natural specimens and regional cultural materials.

As the National Museum continues to preserve and share the country’s cultural and natural treasures, LG Philippines’ expanded donation represents a practical contribution to that mission: helping protect the spaces where Filipinos encounter the stories, knowledge, and heritage that connect generations.

Through its continued partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines, LG reinforces its belief that Life’s Good when technology helps protect what matters.
